Of all the parts on a string cutter, the trimmer head is the first to stop working. That is not surprising. While the engine turns at speed, the head is the part that meets grass, stones and bed edges, and the line, spool and exits wear first. The C36-2 is a two-line trimmer head: a white ribbed top cover, a black base, a black auto feed center cap, and a line coming out of each side.
Why is two line better than one? At any moment one of the two lines is working, and when one side breaks or shortens, the other keeps cutting, so the pass width stays steadier. When the line runs low, you bump the cap to feed more instead of stopping to reline. With the same total line, a two line head keeps the cutting rhythm more even over the whole job.
How do you choose the right one? Look at the thread first. The C36-2 uses the M10x1.0 thread, so if your cutter takes M14, this is not the fit. Then look at the cover shape: the top must sit flush in the guard, and the exits must line up. When replacing, match the old part, number and shape.
The trimmer head is a cheap consumable with a direct effect on how fast you work. If you cut lawns or clear brush, keep a spare in the box, and if a stone dents the head, change it then instead of waiting for it to fail.
